Story
Hi there!
At Red Cross we’re a world leader in disaster preparedness and response, We are joining the rest of the organisation in getting prepared for the next disaster by going without power for 24 hours.
You can support our efforts by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support. Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to Red Cross.
Your donation will ensure Red Cross keeps doing good in the community and overseas, supporting people affected by disasters.
For example:
- $5 could provide a family with a 10L collapsible water container in an emergency
- $9 could keep someone warm after a disaster by providing them with a blanket
- $20 could provide a family with tarpaulins after a disaster
- $100 could provide food and accommodation for a day for one volunteer to be deployed in an emergency
- $385 could teach our People Savers course (essential life-saving skills) to 23 students
- $500 could support five volunteers to teach our YES (Youth in Emergency Services) courses (transport, food, accommodation)
- $1000 could cover the cost of a complete uniform for one volunteer in times of emergencies (overall, helmets, boots, polo, jackets, etc.)
- $3,500 could train 20 volunteers in ground-based rescue

New Zealand Red Cross
New Zealand Red Cross is many things to many people – a hot meal, a safe drive to the hospital, going door-to-door after a disaster, a good start for refugees or knowledge that our aid workers are helping overseas in true Kiwi style.
We have been helping Kiwis for the past 100 years with our many services: refugee resettlement, disaster relief and preparedness, first aid training for adults and children, Christchurch recovery, teaching humanitarian laws to teenagers and community support programmes such as Meal on Wheels and Community Transport. Overseas, Red Cross is at the forefront of emergency response to disasters: first aid to injured people and first aid training in the Pacific, relief items (food, shelter) and Kiwi aid workers.
